Titanfall is a game entirely in its own category. The reason I'm reviewing a 4-star
game before finishing my 6- and 5-star reviews is because I'm afraid this game will be irrelevant by the
time I'm finished with the first two categories. This game has a bleak future due to no dedicated servers,
this is probably not a game that will be playable at all ten years from now, unlike most of the games on my
list.
The gameplay, at first glance, is very similar to the newer Call of Duty games, but
Titanfall's gimmick is what it brings to the table. You can call for huge mechs to be dropped in from
orbit for you to use in combat. This game is only played 6v6, 12 players per match. Which seems odd at first but
finding other people is never an issue. If you like skill-based games rather than gimmick-based games then I
would not recommend this game - it is entirely based on gimmicks. In fact, there is a gun that aims for you called
the smart pistol. In theory it sounds like it would be extremely annoying, and in practice, it is. I would
also not recommend this to anyone who gets mad at games easily, as every kill you give and receive in this game
is a 'cheap' one. While in a titan, simply stepping on or punching players is a one hit kill. This game is
the epitome of casual gaming.
The graphics and sound quality of this game are amazing, definitely a next-gen
experience. EA is pulling the same bogus DLC scam with this game as they are with lots of other games,
but the game without any DLC whatsoever is a very polished gem. The game is most fun if taken very lightly; if
taken seriously it will just make you mad due to the cheapness of it.
If your favorite games are Counter-Strike: Source, Quake and Unreal Tournament, I
would not recommend this game, but if your favorites include Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty, and
Bulletstorm, then please, please buy this game. You will enjoy it so much. While Titanfall is not the best of the
best, it is still a quality way to spend your time gaming. Titanfall is definitely a platinum tier PC game.
